INTRO TO ACOUSTIC GUITAR, PART 1 (Adults)
This class is a perfect fit for newbies to acoustic guitar, as it will provide core knowledge and practice structure. After learning proper guitar and hand placement, students will taught how to play clear individual notes and basic chords on the guitar. From there you’ll learn the chords to several well-known songs that (with practice) you should be able to play on your own. The course materials will be presented in a user-friendly manner that doesn’t require reading standard music notation. Pre-requisite: Students must have an acoustic guitar (or be able to borrow or rent one for the entire course) and bring it (and a pick and a capo) to class each week. No loaner instruments are available.

ACOUSTIC GUITAR: BEYOND THE BASICS, PART 1 (Adults)
In this sequel to Intro To Acoustic Guitar, you’ll expand your song repertoire with well-known pop, rock, blues and country songs, learn some useful strumming patterns, develop your understanding and application of chords, and get some helpful pointers on fingerpicking. Students who put in ample practice time have strong potential to emerge as early intermediate level players by the end of the course. Pre-requisite: Intro To Acoustic Guitar or be able to play some basic guitar chords and transition among them. Students must have an acoustic guitar (or be able to borrow or rent one for the entire course) and bring it (and a pick and a capo) to class each week. No loaner instruments are available.

About The Instructor
Fox Island resident, Jeff Saxon, is a lifelong guitarist and highly experienced and well-regarded guitar, ukulele, and songwriting instructor. He’s taught classes and workshops at music schools. colleges, libraries, and parks and recreation departments in several states. He specializes in acoustic guitar instruction for all playing levels and styles; particularly blues, jazz, Americana, country, rock, pop, bossa nova, and folk. Jeff is also an award-winning indie singer/songwriter who has released 5 albums.
