Future plans of the DeMolay Sandspit (Bella Bella)

PenMet Parks is developing a master plan for the Tacoma DeMolay Sandspit Nature Preserve. The project is intended to include residents and stakeholders in determining the priorities for this place. There are many natural features to carefully consider in developing a master plan for this 3.56 acre park located on the northeast tip of Fox Island.

Input from Fox Island residents will help guide PenMet Parks in allowing low impact public access to the park. During the plan development process, special care will be given to protecting vegetation and wildlife of this special waterside ecosystem that includes 1,500 feet of marine shoreline.

Minutes from the Public Meeting held at the NCC on December 13, 2023 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm are available here. The next public meeting is scheduled for January 24th from 5:30-7:30pm at the Nichols Community Center.

Additional project information is available on the PenMet Parks website.
