Fox Island Bridge work beginning March 26, 2014

Fox Island Bridge FICRA

Many Islanders have asked about the recent signs that went up noting bridge work on the Fox Island Bridge, beginning

March 26th.  FICRA contacted the folks at Pierce County and we have a bit of information to share.

Pierce County Bridge Engineering Supervisor Kraig Shaner said,”the bearing pads at both bridge abutments will be replaced.” This will require the contractor to jack the bridge up at each end.  During the repair work, the contractor’s contract with Pierce County stipulates that the jacking up of the bridge will only be done between the hours of 10AM and 2PM and that traffic will be stopped in both directions for no longer than 20 minutes.  The bridge repair contract also stipulates that work shall only be Monday through Friday.

Currently, the only information on this project can be found at thefollowing link: http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/index.aspx?nid=3608

Edited 3/21: the link from Pierce County is now live:

We will continue to update you all as we learn more.
