FICRA is pleased to have set a forum date with WA State Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Biologist Tammy Schmidt for Tuesday, November 15th at 7:00 at the Nichols Community Center. She will be giving a 45 minute presentation on “Living with Wildlife” to our community. We are also very happy to have Matt Stevens from the USDA coming as well. Mr. Stevens has over 20 years of experience with coyotes. Thank you to Sue Supplee for getting in contact with Mr. Stevens!
FICRA has been in contact with Fish and Wildlife for many months regarding our Island coyote population. We hope this forum will be a benefit for everyone with concerns about coyotes. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation. We will continue to keep Islanders posted as we learn more. Fish and Wildlife has asked us to continue to direct people to their website regarding coyotes.
We also continue to blog about this on our website: Coyote Tips |

Astronomy Night back by Popular Demand! Sunday, November 13th at 7:00 |
FICRA is happy to have Terry Mace and his friends back at the Nichols Community Center, hosting another Astronomy Night.
This event was a huge success last August. With the stars and planets now in different positions, the night sky will have a whole new look. Guests at the first event said seeing the solar system like this was one of the most amazing things they had seen. Terry and his associates bring the telescopes (HUGE telescopes) and FICRA supplies the coffee and hot cocoa. Dress warmly! More info will be available soon on the FICRA blog. This is a free event for all ages!

Children’s Handprint Flag Flyin’ at The Nichols Center The wonderful 6 foot by 4 foot United States flag that was created by the “handy work” of Fox Island Children and their friends is now at home on the old Schoolhouse stage at the Nichols Center. So many Island children had a part in creating this flag during the 2011 FICRA Fair and we are proud to see it “flying” in our auditorium for others to enjoy for years to come. |
